Twenty seconds later, the Swoose is 60 feet in the air, slowly ascending. The crew has pulled aboard the nets, and cut Brand loose of his bonds. He and Ceran are smiling from ear to ear, and laughing about their good fortune. Gardner is at the helm with his blunderbuss reloaded, and both Clovis and Blendin have reloaded their weapons and are scanning the top of the ruin for signs of the priest; they see nothing. Moira is chatting with her shipmates, sitting atop the bags of flowers.
Jay, for his part, feels an uneasiness he can’t quite place. Perhaps its just old age, but then he hears an unusual jingling sound towards the front of the ship. Jay draws his swords from their scabbards.
Suddenly, a maniacal giggle echoes from the bow of the ship, and three beams of voidlight flash from there toward the stern, striking Brand in the back and Ceran in the eyes(hit w/ raise. 25 and 24 damage – didn’t bother with the 3rd bolt. Both are turned to Glowmad). Their eyes melt in their sockets as you watch, and their skin turns ashen and grows thick scales. The two new blinded bellow with their newfound madness, as their eyes light. A dark robed figure appears in the bow between Blendin. His face is distorted and glows like the void. He is sheathed in a slithering green-black chainmail, with a long-handled hook in one hand. He gestures with it toward the stern. “Go now, children! Our god forgives your fear to join him willingly, and has granted you new life in his service!”

Clovis cocks his musket and drops to one knee in a single smooth motion, the weapon rising to his shoulder and in line with the Voider priest's face. He cries, "You should have saved your 'new life' for yourself, priest!" and squeezes the trigger.
ReplyDelete-----------
OOC: Well, that'll save us hunting him down.
Spent 2 bennies to get a headshot and bypass his armor: Shooting: 13-2-4=7, Damage: 9+4=13. Too bad I didn't get a raise, too, I doubt 13 will put him down for good.
Gardner gingerly hobbles over and stretches his arm out to grab the blunderbus, cursing in a mixture of Orcish and Common (Mother shitter... fucking glowmad... damn back is out again... get the bastards you stupid dog!). Gardner readies the blunderbus and aims at Ceran. Fang lunges for Brand (fighting 3).
ReplyDelete---------------------------------
OOC: Not sure if Gardner needs to do anything to control the ship as well, if so he'll forgo aiming this turn.
The musket is only inches from his face when Tooly fires, and the ball leaves a ragged hole in his cheek. Glowlight spills out of it, but the priest smiles at Tooly. "Fool, my god protects me!"
ReplyDeleteGardner steadies the wheel and braces the blunderbuss against it, aiming at the Blinded before him.
Fangs attack is sloppy, and even without a weapon to defend himself, the glowmad bats the dog aside before his teeth can sink in.
Your kneel steadies your shot, +1 to hit. This gives you a raise, added 2 damage. Hit Asesh, 2 wounds, Shaken. Asesh is spending a Benny to soak, and I'm spending 2 from the GM pool to reroll (3 bennies total), rolls an 8, 2 wounds removed, not shaken.
Blendin turns toward the priest, his gun already drawn as he had been searching for the priest, and takes a quick shot. [shooting: 10+1=11]
ReplyDeleteMoira whispers a sorry as she draws her pistol and fires at Brand. [don't know what to roll]
fair enough, blendin. would be a hit with raise either way. Damage = 9. Thats shaken. Moira's roll is 15, hit with raise. 12 damage, that's shaken.
ReplyDeleteCeran swings at Moira, landing a heavy punch. It sends her reeling She's Shaken Brand seems to be coming around, but is still stunned this round.
I think I need a set of your dice. So many aces and raises. =)
ReplyDeletesad thing is, I use the DnD dice roller half the time.
ReplyDeletebut if you want a set of what dice I use... www.gamescience.com
ReplyDelete"You couldn't turn when you were tied to the ground?" Jay grumbles as he makes a curved charges forward. He makes a straight drive for Brand's chin with his ironwood blade (Fighting 6, Bennie 7, Wild Attack, Gang up?), attempting to send him over the railing, head first.
ReplyDeleteIf hit helps, go to 1:54.
ReplyDeleteooc: using a set of charge rules to determine knockback, from the PEGinc website. In essence, its fighting/str vs. str/ag opposed roll to determine knockback, followed by an ag check to determine if they fall down. Since you’re also doing called shot to the head and a wild shot, I’m going to allow you to deal that damage and raise damage, but not your typical weapon damage. You hit, with a raise, he’s incapped and knocked down, amongst the cargo nets near the railing. Oh, and I’m granting a benny for demonstrating your move with a TMNT video.
ReplyDeleteJay’s swing lifts the blinded off his feet, and he sails back, landing roughly in the starboard cargo pit.
The wildlings are feeling their oats, it seems.

ooc: Did Moira take damage, other than being stunned? [Spirit Roll for Shaken: 23 WOW]
ReplyDelete----------------------------------------------
Moira jumps to her feet, reloads and takes a second shot at Ceran. [Shooting=20-2-2=16 Double WOW]
Blendin quickly reloads and takes a second shot at Asesh. [Shooting= 6+1-2=5]
Gardner fires the blunderbus at Ceran (shooting 3+2-2=3), but his aim is unsteady. Fang jumps back to his feet and leaps at Ceran (fighting 5).
ReplyDeleteno, moira is undamaged, and apparently unstunned. However, she's not able to fire this turn - you can't take the same action twice in a round (i.e. no double reloads). You're welcome to do something else, of course, but she'll have to wait until next turn to fire (and I'll let you keep that roll for the shot if you wish - I'm not cruel enough to take away a 20).
ReplyDeleteBlendin hits, but doesn't penetrate armor.
Asesh unshakes, and attacks Tooly with his hook, while casting stun at moira and Jay. Jay saves, Moira does not, and is Shaken. Incidentally, Ceran is in the killzone, and gets shaken as well. Attack on Tooly misses like crazy. Stupid Asesh, I'm not wasting bennies on you if you're not going to at least try.
Clovis goggles for a moment at the priest as he swings wildly, the holes in his cheeks glowing. He cocks his musket and fires, hitting the priest squarely.
ReplyDelete------------------
OOC: Acing like crazy! Shooting: 10-2=8, Damage: 8+5+2+3=18 (the last 3 is an extra d6 for a raise, if appropriate)
Hey, cut Asesh some slack, he just got shot in the face. You don't know how that feels! Oh, wait...
Ceran is coming around, but not there yet.
ReplyDeleteAsesh rolls to soak. Used all 3 remaining bennies, but he got a 14, unwounded, unshaken. You should be able to start hurting him now...
"Shut your crazy-trap, worm!" Jay shouts at Asesh, emphasizing his point with a flying thorn (Shooting 4, Bennies(x2) 11).
ReplyDeleteJay hits, 10 damage, bounces off his armor.
ReplyDeleteFull update in a few.
fang hits Ceran, but doesn't do damage, btw. forgot to post on it.

shaken means no actions aside from a half-pace move. I'd suggest using one of her bennies to get rid of the shaken status and act immediately.
ReplyDeleteSo spent, and action taken. [Shooting: 20-2-2=16]
ReplyDeleteNothing to do with this game, but I thought you all might be interested: GAME OF THRONES.
ReplyDeleteNow I just need to order HBO... HA!
ReplyDeleteLR: Nah, that's what Netflix is for.
ReplyDeleteOOC: Waiting my turn. At least other people are getting jokers, now.
Jay swings his ironwood at Ceran in a flat arc as he charges toward Asesh, bringing his sword down on the priest in a furious blow. The first attack lands squarely on the blinded sailor, and the crunch of bone that precedes his fall indicate it’s unlikely he’ll rise again anytime soon.
ReplyDeleteAsesh is also hit by the gold shortsword, but even with all the fury behind his blow, Jay does not pierce his chain armor.
Moira is about to shoot at Ceran, but thinks better of it as he is clearly unable to act, and fires on the priest. The musketball finds a gap in the chain, and the priest appears injured for the first time since appearing on your ship. Blendin’s shot, however, skitters off his armor leaving sparks in its wake.

Fang attacks Asesh (fighting 4). Gardner draws and aims his pistol at the priest, saying "you gonna jump or disappear yourself off this ship or do we have to do it for you?" (taunt 4+2-2=4).
ReplyDeleteFang’s jaws snap shut on open air, an inch from the voider priest. Gardner’s words seem to enrage the priest, whose face shines brighter than before (+2 for Gardner’s next attack). The priest cackles as he straightens, (unshaken, acting this turn) and brings his hook around at Jay. At the same time, he raises his other hand, and the world erupts in insane visions and laughter for those at the bow (stun attack targeting bow of ship.). The hook blow is clumsy, and easily avoided by Jay. The whirlwind of madness doesn’t effect the priest (VR = 5), Blendin (VR = 14!!), Tooly (VR = 29?!?!), but Fang (VR = 3) and Jay (VR = 2) are stunned.

OOC: Fixed my other gmail account so they'll both look the same when I post, now.
ReplyDeleteClovis takes carefully aim.
ReplyDeleteThe priest screams out, “Now I will end this!” but his blow with the hook scratches along Jay’s hardened thigh without puncturing, and his raised hand seems to call forth nothing. It appears his god, ever capricious and malovent, has forsaken his follower for the moment.

Wow, that was a rough joker for Asesh, and a rougher benny roll.
Jay looks confused for a second, shakes his head, then grins wildly (Spirit 8).
ReplyDeleteEpiphany striking, Jay drops his blades, darts behind Asesh and roughly grabs ahold of him (Fighting 4, Bennie 7).
If we get this far:
ReplyDeleteGardner fires the pistol at Asesh (shooting 5 -2 wounds +2 aim +2 taunt = 7). Fang rolls a 1 on Spirit roll.
Blendin will reload and take yet another shot at Asesh. [Shooting: 10+1-2=9]
ReplyDelete----------------------
Moira reloads.
Jay grabs hold of the priest, crushing his arms against his sides. Clovis puts another round into his face, and this time, it bleeds blood instead of light. Gardner’s bullet also lands, but ricochets harmlessly. Blendin’s shot finds home, and the priest crumples in Jay’s arms.
ReplyDeleteThe Swoose is quietly hovering above the ruins. No sign of imminent danger is perceived. The smell of flowers fills the air, as a fresh breeze over the uncharted island picks up.

Congratulations are in order, gentlemen. Nice work all around. I’d suggest if you’re going to do it, someone should make default healing rolls for Gardner. I’ll say he has all six healing attempts left. One or two of you really should take the healing skill at some point - just saying.
I imagine there are some basic post-battle actions you want to take at this point. I’ll give you a chance to resolve those.

Tooly suggests stripping Asesh and dropping him over the side to finish him off. "That's some good armor, likely enchanted. He may have other stuff, too. We should grab the Grandee and land on the tower again to search it. I'll bet there's some salvage in there, besides what's on the bodies."
ReplyDeleteTooly looks at Moira. "You don't happen to have an training in healing, do you?" He nods toward the stiff Gardner.
--------------------
OOC: I spent that last benny to shoot Asesh's face off again.
Took 6 healing rolls for Gardner, since it doesn't seem to matter who tries it (unless Moira has healing skill). I actually rolled really well, lots of 5s, but the -2 is a killer. Only got one roll above 3 after modifier.
Clovis will insist on towing the Grandee to either the clearing or the tower and landing, then searching the tower for spoils. If Moira wants to bury her former comrades, he'll suggest the field of flowers, but is fine with leaving them for scavengers.
Clovis is content with the bronze breastplate and won't fight Blendin or Gardner for Asesh's chainmail if they want it, but if neither tries to claim it, he'll take it.
Moira has no healing skill, but she has a benny. I rerolled one of the healing attempts using that, and got a 8 after modifiers. That'd be 2 wounds healed up. All better there, Gardner, thanks to the wee wildling.
ReplyDeleteShe also would like to bury her comrades, and asks that Blendin help her do so in the flower field. She insists that only the wildlings do it, so as to avoid further exposure (she's seen enough glowmad for one day, thank you very much).
The grandee will stay put for some time, and even with his bandaged back, Gardner is reticent to try and land a ship without sails without good reason, particularly with the heavy winds near the tower.
A quick once over of Asesh reveals his green-black chainmail, his hook, made of the same metal, and a small flask containing a grey-green cloudy liquid.
Until we decide on his final fate, Jay will have Asesh bound and gagged. I doesn't mind if the bindings are too tight... In fact, he'll land a few blows on Asesh's unprotected torso, just for the fun of it.
ReplyDeleteIf we decided to land (at the tower, or in the field), Jay will join Clovis in exploring the tower, unless he is needed to guard Asesh (if we don't decide to make wagers on how many times he bounces).
Tooly will take the bet! 5 cogs he bounces twice.
ReplyDeleteSeriously the guy turned two people glowmad right in front of everyone. Chuck him over the side while we're still up high.
Unless someone wants to draw lots, Blendin will take Asesh's assets. Blendin is also more than willing to help Moira any way he can.
ReplyDelete"I'll put up 10 cogs on three bounces."
Also, if possible, Blendin would like to check out the other wreckages surrounding the field of flowers and the flowers themselves. Blendin is curious to find out what gave the voiders hesitation.
Jay will also go 5 on two, to balance out the pool.
ReplyDeleteGardner declines to bet, but has no objection to throwing him overboard.
ReplyDeleteBennies renewed to 3 each. Experience points granted! 3 each because of the awesome performance in a hard fight. Closing this thread, new one opening now.
